It’s no news that the Samsung Galaxy is expected to be launched early next year, rumor has it to be sometime in January 2022.

A summary of what is contained in this article is:

Multiple sources have it that the S22 is more focused on upgraded cameras and according to Ice Universe, the Galaxy S22 Ultra will have a new highly detailed photo mode to make the most of its 108MP sensor.

Galaxy S22 Release Date

A wide guess is that it would have Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 895 chip or rather its Exynos 2200 with AMD graphics.

Also, there’s a rumor about its slimmer design, smaller display for both the regular and pro models and possibly an under-display camera.

In addition, Leaked renders have it that the Galaxy S22 and S22 Ultra would have significantly different looks and that the S22 will have an S Pen and a galaxy Note-like design.

Further, the rumored features of the Galaxy S22 ultra are categorized into subheadings below to help ease your reading;

Table of Contents

Release Date

The Samsung Galaxy S22 is expected to be released in early 2022. According to a recent source, the Galaxy S22 will be released on February 28, 2022, just in time for MWC.

The Galaxy S21 was released in January, which was a month earlier than usual. However, the S22 may be delayed to allow for the anticipated Samsung Galaxy S21 FE, expected to be released in January.

According to another rumor from WinFuture, components for the Galaxy S22 series have reached mass production as of early November, thus the phone could be released sooner.

Design

According to claimed leaked Galaxy S22 blueprints, the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Pro will have identical designs to their predecessor, the Galaxy S21, but with smaller dimensions.

The normal S22 could be 149.98 x 70.56 x 7.65mm, versus 151.7 x 71.2 x 7.9mm for the S22. The Galaxy S22 Pro (not Plus) could measure 157.43 x 75.83 x 7.65mm, compared to 161.5 x 75.6 x 7.8mm for the S21 Plus.

An under-display camera, which debuted to mixed reviews in the Galaxy Z Fold 3, could be a huge change coming to the Galaxy S22. This would allow for a genuine full-screen design without the need for a punch hole at the top.

However, according to another report from Ice Universe, the Galaxy S22 may not feature an under-display camera following mixed reviews gotten from the Galaxy Z Fold 3 during its premiere.

A tip from Twitter leaker Mauri QHD suggests that the Samsung Galaxy S22 would be thinner than the Galaxy S21. However, smaller batteries may result.

Galaxy S22 Display

Another source, LetsGoDigital has also released a collection of concept images for the Galaxy S22, highlighting potential design alterations.

A large main camera flanked by four smaller sensors, as well as a potential active cooling system, are among the features.

According to new information gathered by Let’s Go Digital, the Galaxy S22 will differ from the Galaxy S22 Ultra in appearance.

The site created some models that show a phone that looks a lot like the Galaxy S21 and has a camera hump that is comparable to that of the Galaxy S21.

The S22 Ultra, on the other hand, is expected to take on a more Note-like look, further distinguishing the Galaxy S22 family.

Display

According to a rumor from leaker Mauri QHD, Samsung is decreasing the displays on the Galaxy S22 series in comparison to the Galaxy S21; another leaker, Ice Universe, has revealed the same information – this means fewer larger phones. Quite appraisable, if you ask me.

The Galaxy S22 would have a 6.06-inch display (down from 6.2 inches on the S21), a 6.5-inch display on the S22 Plus (down from 6.7 inches), and a 6.81-inch display on the Galaxy S22 Ultra (down from 6.9 inches). A report from SlashGear backed up the S22 Plus’s display shrinkage.

Furthermore, according to Mauri QHD, only the Galaxy S22 Ultra will use LTPO technology, which means it will be the only device capable of scaling the refresh rate on its display from 120Hz to 1Hz. This helps to extend the life of the battery.

According to a more recent Galaxy S22 Ultra rumor, the phone will boast the brightest display ever for a Galaxy phone.

Given that the Galaxy S21 Ultra has a brightness of 1500 nits, we may expect the next-generation Ultra to be even brighter, possibly approaching 2,000 nits.

Furthermore, an increase in brightness can aid in the delivery of more believable HDR and colors, which is perfect for watching movies and playing games.

According to one rumor from The Elec, the 6.1-inch Galaxy S22 will have the biggest volume of production, with 50-60 percent of the allocation, followed by the 6.6-inch S22 Plus and then the S22 Ultra of the total allocation.

Camera

Early Galaxy S22 speculations hinted at a possible Samsung-Olympus collaboration. However, more recent nuggets of information appear to have put the rumor to rest.

However, the Galaxy S22 Ultra’s rear cameras appear to be as usual, with leaker Ice Universe claiming only slight improvements to the main camera on the Ultra over its predecessor.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Camera

The main camera will have 108 megapixels, an f/1.8 aperture, and an improved sensor, according to the tip. The ultra-wide-angle camera will keep its 12MP resolution, while a pair of telephoto cameras will keep their 10MP resolution but include upgraded sensors and larger pixel sizes, allowing for better low-light photography.

The same leaker claims, however, that Samsung is working on a new ultra-detailed photo mode for the Galaxy S21 Ultra that will better use the camera’s 108MP sensor which is an advantage over the iPhone 13 pro max and google pixel 6 Pro.

A 50MP main camera lens, as well as 12MP ultrawide and telephoto lenses, could be included in the normal Samsung Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus.

According to one leak, the Galaxy S22’s 50MP camera will use an RGBW sensor. Unlike typical phone camera sensors, which use red, green, and blue (RGB) sub-pixels to generate colors for images, this reported 50MP sensor includes a fourth white sub-pixel, making it RGBW. A sensor like this could give better colors in high-contrast environments, which has been a problem for Samsung phones.

Zooming capability?

According to one leak, the Galaxy S22 would have a 3X telephoto zoom lens with 10MP resolution. This would be an improvement over the 3X hybrid optical zoom that was previously available.

Spec and graphics

The Snapdragon 895, which is claimed to be a 4nm device, might be the main processor of the Galaxy S22. Samsung is rumored to be the gadget that will produce the Snapdragon 895.

The Samsung Galaxy S22 could gain a huge graphics upgrade under the hood, thanks to a GPU based on AMD’s RDNA 2 architecture, which also powers the PS5 and Xbox Series X. That’s not to claim the Galaxy S22 will match the power of today’s gaming consoles, but it might easily outperform the smartphones on the list of the top gaming phones.

A tip that Samsung is testing numerous versions of a new Exynos 2200 CPU with AMD graphics has added credence to this claim.

Ice Universe, a known leaker, revealed supposed Wild Life performance numbers on Twitter for one configuration; the graphics test results showed a score of 8,134 points with an average FPS of 50.3.

Ray tracing may be possible with the 2200 chip. Samsung appears to have confirmed this on its Weibo account, however the message has already been removed. If this is correct, the S22 would be an excellent phone for mobile gaming. Assuming game developers can create games that support it.

It’s unclear whether any of this AMD technology will be reserved for Samsung’s Exynos 2200 processor or if it would be used in other AMD processors as well.

Battery and Charging

Galaxy S22 Price

Early Galaxy S22 speculations focused on charging; there are speculations that Samsung may bring back up to 65W fast charging with the Galaxy S22. Ice Universe, a well-known leaker, reports that Samsung is experimenting with 25W, 45W, and 65W charging.

However, that may no longer be the case, as a recent listing for the Galaxy S22 range on China’s 3C tech regulator website indicates that the forthcoming flagship phone will retain the 25W charging capability of its predecessor.

Given past rumors and the fact that Samsung trails behind the likes of Oppo and OnePlus when it comes to charging speeds and wattage, this might be a major disappointment.

According to Ice Universe, the Galaxy S22 will have a 3,800 mAh battery, while the Galaxy S22 Plus will have a 4,600 mAh battery – both amounts represent 200 mAh reductions. The Galaxy S22 Ultra is expected to keep its predecessor’s 5,000 mAh battery.

However, according to a new listing purportedly from 3C Certification, China’s electrical product conformity service, the Galaxy S22 Plus and Galaxy S22 Ultra have lesser battery capacity than their predecessors.

The Galaxy S22 Plus could have a battery capacity of 4,370 mAh, while the Galaxy S22 Ultra could have a battery capacity of 4,855 mAh.

As a result, the batteries could be even smaller than Ice Universe claims. These battery numbers contradict news from the Dutch website GalaxyClub, which claims that the S22 Plus will have a 4,500 mAh battery.

A recent rumor suggests that the Samsung Galaxy S22 will have a smaller battery than the Galaxy S21, which adds credence to the above.

According to this tidbit, the Galaxy S22 will feature a battery capacity of 3,590 mAh, which isn’t exactly enormous by 2021 standards, let alone 2022. After publishing a battery allegedly from the Galaxy S22, a certification posted at Safety Korea supported this story. The overall capacity of that battery was 3.700 mAh, with a useable capacity of 3,590 mAh.

However, there is no way of verifying this information. In order to give a strong battery life overall, Samsung may have prioritized battery optimization above capacity.

Pen support

According to Ice Universe, the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra could have an integrated S Pen and slot, making it a Galaxy Note smartphone.

Furthermore, the design of the S22 Ultra could be comparable to that of the Galaxy Note series, with a more squared-off style and a larger aspect ratio. The latter would make sense in order to provide more space for writing. For now, it is unknown if the Galaxy S22 or S22 Plus will include support for the S Pen.

Price

Following the trends, if there’s a consistency in price, then the Galaxy S22 will cost $799, $999 for the Galaxy S22 Plus, and $1,199 for the Galaxy S22 Ultra. It may be surprising if Samsung releases a cheaper Galaxy S21 FE between now and the introduction of the S22, although there’s a report that the S21 FE could be delayed owing to a global chip shortage.

So, there you have it, let’s keep our fingers crossed for the Galaxy S22 release.
